Story - 

The film starts with the demise of Chief Minister(Chandramohan), a political plot produced by Bhupathi(Prakash Raj), thereby starting the film on serious note. Then we are introduced to Kamalakkannan(Karthi), who tell his story to the auto driver Appa Durai alias Rajini(Santhanam).

Appa Durai assumes that Kamalakkannan is rich and drives him around the city to be prolifted for him.

Kamalakkannan is a country boy, who is working in a small company. He has come to the city to meet the concerned politicians and plead them to halt a subway project, by which he could lose his property in his village. He is the grandson of a humble person, who serves unlimited food for the guests and passers-by everyday. Under this background, he has come to Chennai to settle the matter, the forefather's property is living heaven for the family.

Kamal stays in Aunt's(Roja) house and love blossoms between Kamal and Sreedevi(Pranitha). The love affair breaks up as it was not accepted by his Aunt.

He meets the politician baddie(Prakash Raj) , who once visited their village during election campaingn and had promised to do good needs when required. But, Kamal comes to know he is the one behind the project. This makes Kamal to teach him a lesson and safeguard his property. The remaining part of the film shows how the game is played by Kamalakkannan.

Performance - 

Karthi : His performance is neat and decent job. At mst of the times he shines with his comic timings

Pranitha : She got a very small roll though she has done her best to amaze the audience.

Santhanam : He played the comedy role, can be said as the life of the film.

Andrea Jeremiah and Anushka Shetty have done guest appearance in this film.

Prakash Raj as usual has done his character in a classical way.

All others are done their roles appealing.

P.G.Muthiah's cinematography is amazing.

G.V.Prakash Kumar scored the music 'Kandha Kaara Vadai...', 'Manasellam Mazhaiye...' and 'Vella Bambaram...' are the most appreciated songs by audience.

Positives - 

Karthi's performance, Santhanam's comedy scenes and P.G.Muthiah's cinematography.

Negatives - 

Weak screenplay, it seems to be illogical at some places. The director failed to narrate the story.

Verdict - 

Karthi's Saguni is not so great and also not so bad either. The movie is an ordinary story with weakest screenplay. It is a one time watchable movie. 

Comments - 

The film recieving a U certficate and it has released on 1150 screens worldwide in Tamil and Telugu(as Sakuni). The other tamil movie release in more screens was Super Star Rajinikanth's Endhiran-The Robot.

Saguni Music Review

Karthi did not have a release for the past one and a half years after Siruthai has raised expectations manifold on Saguni and its songs. Apparently sensing the curiosity well. G.V.Prakash Kumar comes out with numbers which will be lapped up by the audience in the first-listen itself.

Kandha Kaara Vadai

Shankar Mahadevan

A full energetic song. Shankar Mahadevan's voice does not much needed to magic to this number, which has interesting interludes from none other than Karthi.

Sonu Nigam, Saindhavi

A beautiful melody which takes us to somewhere. An excellent composition. Sonu Nigam and Saindhavi were the good choice of G.V.Prakash Kumar to sing this song.

Baba Sehgal, Priya Himesh

Again an energetic composition, but a duet this time, The lyricist describe the heroine in short words. But it is lovely and interesting.

Velmurugan

The first three words of the song explain clearly the intensions. G.V.Prakash Kumar tried to infuse maximum energy to this song. Velmurugan's voice is perfect for this song and it is a plus point of the song.

Pushpavanam Kuppusamy

A song that is humerous take on the political systems, especially elections, of this country. Pushpavanam Kuppusamy is apt for this song. Another GVP effect was seen in the song.
